All Quiet on the Western Front
In the book, All Quiet On The Western Front, a young boy named Paul Baumer is inlisted in the army as a Germany soilder. During this novel, Paul tells his stories and stuggles he goes through while fighting in WW1. Throughout the book, the topic jumps around a lot. It goes from stuggles and hard time, seeing fellow soilders die during the front line to feeling the joy of reciving supplies. This books themes, determination and hope is reffered to veries times. This book really shows how in war most things dont matter, but the ones that do are little and not much appritiated today. For instance, when Pauls dieing friend gives him a pair of boots, they were so much appritiated by Paul and ment a lot, but today a gift of boots seems like it wouldnt be as important. An Example of imagery in this novel would be the river. The river is a cross between land, one sides a war zone and the others a step up, its better and a break. Jumping around from topic to topic could be a good stratagy used by the author because it makes the reader always wonder what will happen next and pushes the reader to read further. The tone of the book is violent which makes the reader understand the brutalness of war and it makes it easier for me to connect to.
