The Martian Chronicles

In Ray Bradbury's, "The Martian Chronicles" Mars is colonized over a span of missions by humans looking to call Mars they're new home. As humans start colonizing the most of the martian homes are being moved by the human developers. This is much like the way the Europeans when they came to the new world started degrading native american homes and lands. Also when the humans started colonizing many of the martians were killed due to diseases that were carried by the humans to the red planet and the martians had no immunity against the biological attack. This is again very much like when the settlers started to settle in the Americas and infected the native americans with small pox and other diseases that the natives had no resistance to. Throughout Bradbury's novel he describes the martian landscape in beautiful detail and makes it seem like he's writing a poem not a novel. His book also uncovers the problems and consequences of human society through which abused can lead to catastrophe.
