All Quiet on the Western Front

In Erich Maria Remarque's book All Quiet on the Western Front the story is told by Paul. Each chapter is about a different topic. This enhances the novel because it has a main topic instead to focus on instead of telling war action in every chapter. This book puts things life as a solider, the reality of it. All of the soliders go through a lot together, death, war, fighting and a lot of emotions and feelings a normal person would never experience.
Since this is told from a perspective of a soldier, this shows his life and how he deals with it. It really makes you think about what they have to go through to fight for their country. Because this book is placed during World War I, we were supposed to think the Germans were bad, which this is the point of view. After you realize and read from the German's perspective, they're fighting for their country too. They don't have personal grudges against the oppoosing side, they are just are doing it for their country.
This book is very honest, descriptive, and action packed of a real war that actually happened. It makes you re-think the wars we're in now, and the past wars, what people had to go through.
