The Martian Chronicles
In Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles, the colonization of Mars by Americans is similar to the colonization of America by the Europeans. Before either the Europeans or the Americans began to settle the New Worlds they sent explorers to see if both lands were livable. When the new people came to their new lands they pushed the natives away, often at the expense of the native’s lives. The lifestyles of the Europeans were implanted into the lives of the people of the new world. Laws and codes from the government of the colonizing nation were put in place, many of the people came to America to get away from the laws, and start anew. The people who went to Mars were very similar; they were trying to escape an atomic war. Not only laws and ways of lives, but basically cities were moved from both Europe and Earth to the New Worlds, to fit the comforts of the people.
