The Martian Chronicles

In The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradsbury, the colonization of Mars and the colonization of America have several similarities. In both cases the newly discovered people were well established, well popullated, and out numbered the explorers by great numbers. Both the Martians and the Natives expirenced devastating epidemics that were brought over by the colonists. Smallpox was the main killer of Natives, while chicken pox was the main killer of the Martians. These diseases among others were so deadly due to the fact that the Natives and Martians had never expirenced or come in contact with these diseases. They caused the popullations of both to become virtually extinct with only a few surving that lived through the diseases and devolped immunities. Another major similarity was that the colonizers took over and invaded the new land leaving the Martians and Natives little land to live with. Both the colonization of Mars and America were devasting conquests that severly affected the native people of the land.
