In Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury I can't help but see the similarity between the colonization of America and the colonization of Mars. If you've read any other books by Bradbury you would know that this is not a new concept for him. In the Illistrated Man he uses the concept that our world we be overtaken by machines just like we overtook nature. When it comes to Martian Chronicles he uses Mars as the world that is being overtaken by earthlings. For instance the Martian population is killed by a chicken pox epidemic while the Native Americans on earth were killed by small pox. We Through native people out of their land and on Mars we did the same thing. I think Ray Bradbury is trying to get across the idea that we are not a very nice civilization and if we don't change we may be doing the same thing on another planet...destroying its beauty and simplicity.
