The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury

In The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, the way that humans colonized Mars is very similar to the coloization of other civilzations in Earth's history. The one example that came to my mind while reading The Martian Chronicles was the coloization of North America. Europe sent several expeditions to North America to just get a feel for what the continent was like and to see the potention profit and danger, The four expeditions to Mars were just like that, they sent a crew to Mars to see what they were dealing with and how much potential the planet had. With these explorations, the adventurers brought disease and violence, In America, when the Europeans came in cnotact with the Native Americas, they were violent and killed them, or were peaceful and ended up unintentionally killing them with diseases they brought over. The explorers from the first few missions to Mars brought chicken pox and also unintentionally killed almost all the Martians before the fourth expedition even got there. Once they figured out what they were dealing with and most of the original inhabitants were subdued and no longer a threat, the Europeans that were tired of being ruled over and judged, moved to America, like the Puritans, were they were free. The same could be said for Mars, the oddballs and the loners moved to Mars to get away rom all the restrictions and judgements of Earth. Then came the poeple looking for profit, in both cases. Then came the politicians to rule over the new worlds. Then, just like the Europeans changed Ameerica intp a second Europe, the earth men changed Mars into a second Earth.
