The Martian Chronicles

In Bradbury's book, The Martian Chronicles, he employs just how humans came about on mars and how they were accepted. The first expeditions came to mars excited, humans were finally on mars! But it would appear that they were killed, the second expedition was executed because they were deemed insane martians; and the third was lured in by a trap set by the martians, who took the places of loved ones that had passed away on Earth, and they killed them during the night. By the fourth expedition, martians had started to die out because of human diseases, which is remarkably similar to how the Native American population was brought down by the same cause. With most of the martians out of the way, people start rushing to mars to make a new life, in small numbers at first but then entire towns and cities were built. But soon after the immigrants have settled, they are called back to Earth because of war. Mars becomes abandoned once again. Almost two decades later, a few families started their way back to mars on account that the Earth was being destroyed, so they came to start over fresh. With the planet abandoned and they the only ones on it, they became "martians".
