The Martian Chronicles

The Martian Chronicles, by Ray Bradbury, is a fiction novel about colonization on the Mars by the Americans after many expeditions and a lot of years in the making. As the Americans colonized on Mars, it closely related to the Europeans adventuring to the "New Land" in the many years before that. All countries of Europe sent out explorers to investigate the new found land and learn if it was suitable for cultivating and living. This goes for America too, in the way they expanded to Mars usinf rockets. In Both cases the natives where pushed out of their land and forced to give it over to the new in coming settlers; they were killed in many situations form the explorers by hand and disease. Soon codes and regulations came about on Mars which where not taken well for like the Europeans they came to get away from the discrimination and restrictions found in their last environment. But at the same time the settlers came and built everything in likeness of their old houses and home towns, taking away the originality of the land; in the end bringing Mars to ruins. What could be learned from this story is to bring our intelligence down a bit and think like the children in the last entry. This young boys where told to pick a city and they would be the new owners. Their choice was not of the introduced cities by the settlers but of the ancient Martians. By them doing this it tells us the simple old ways of things can be more suitable and realistic. Not large and Fancy just the necessities for life. Or soon it will end in war as it did for Earth in the book.
