All Quiet on the Western Front.
All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is a novel that displays the horrors of world war one through the eyes of a young German soldier, Paul Baumer. Each chapter in the novel shows different aspects of the war, which enhances the terror that is going on. One chapter talks about the animalistic instincts that the men have as they fight on the front line, where as another depicts the conditions of the hospital area. As the story progresses Paul shows sympathy for the enemies in war, seeing how they aren't much different than him. He feeds soldiers that are being held captive and apologizes to a man he stabbed. saying he didn't mean to kill him. He has a hard time watching all his close friends die in the war, when one day he himself is killed on the frontline. His face was calm, almost as he had been accepting death.
