All Quite on the Western Front, written by Erich Maria Remarque, describes a man named Paul and other soldiers while they fight in World War I. In the novel, a lot of jumping around is done from idea to idea throughout the chapters. By doing this, Remarque keeps the readers wanting more and also gives many different points of view. Throughout the novel, you are let in to the life’s of the characters and their family’s which makes you feel more connected to them. You feel a mixture of emotions while reading All Quite such as what the characters are feeling (stress, anxiety, depression, ECT.) while they are at their camps or on the battlefield. While reading you’re intended to feel like you’re in the war too. Remarque’s writing styles bring you in and help keep the novel going without getting boring or not interesting.
