Martian Chronicles
In the “Martian Chronicles” by Ray Bradbury colonization is a main theme throughout the diary-like entries.  Comparing the colonization of Earth to Mars is similar to the colonization of the pilgrims to the United States. Leaving behind a world which is on the edge of destruction, humans came to Mars for further living. This is similar to the pilgrims since they had left England because for them, life was no longer liveable. These worlds are very similar in such as when a small disease such as chicken pox had destroyed an entire race. This vulnerability is also shown within the ranks of the pilgrims. Illnesses that could be easily healed weren’t able to since the fresh start of living in a new place. Also, through racist habits, rich white humans had the idea of continuing deeds of slavery to the African American humans who wanted overall to just be free of this.
