6. Ehrenreich's situation with discrimination made her working experiences worse. With stereotypes saying that single women wouldnt be able to do the jobs to the fullest. With being a single mom and with kids it would be hard to g to work if one of the kids were to get sick making it hard for her to earn a good living.

Nickel and Dimed
In the book Nickle and Dimed Barbara Ehrenreich tries to figure out how people with low paying jobs make enough money to survive. She is then put to the test of gaining a job at a low paying job and and live off it for the month. The first job she obtained was a waitress but she soon found out that it was not enough to live off of, so she then picked up another job as a maid. she soon realized that both jobs were both physically demanding and ends up stopping before the month is over. The second and third experimental jobs were her becoming a maid and then a worker at wal-mart. She soon realizes that people are working more than one job and that the stereotype of lazy people is exactly true. After working the physically demanding jobs she was able to gain trust from her employees and told them of what she was doing. The workers are still so over whelmed with their work that the dont seem to show interest in her plans.
