The Martian Chronicles

Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles can easily be compared to the European arrival in America. Many expeditions were made to determine if America was a well suited place for human life, just like how Captain Wilder and Spender came to Mars to determine the exact same thing. Another connection would be the reason for relocating. Pilgrims escaped from Europe to rid themselves of hardships. People came to Mars to get away from the gruesome times on Earth, although many people eventually went back to earth to help their loved ones. Another way the expeditions to mars can be compared to those to America is because of what happened with they got there. When the pilgrims arrived to the New World, Native Americans fought against them. When people arrived to Mars, Martians cleverly eliminated them by playing mind games with them, but at one point a Martian and a traveler communicated in a peaceful manner, just as Squanto had with the Pilgrims. But unlike the New World, Mars drove its new inhabitants to insanity, even though the beginning was promising.
